Idioms

What are Idioms?

It´s probably that you´ve used idioms, but you´ve never known that those are called idioms.

They are phrases whose meaning is diffcult or sometimes impossible to guess by 👀 at the meaning of their individual words. They have idiomatic meanings.
For example:
I can´t 🎤. I have Van Gogh´s 👂 for 🎵.

Maybe you got 😕 when you read it or maybe you´ve just guessed the meaning.
Well, don´t be 😟, don´t 😢, some idioms are hard to guess.

This phrase means that someone can´t understand the different and differences between 🎵🎶.

OriginThe origin obviously comes from the incident of Van Gogh, the painter cutting his left ear off after a series of mental illnesses. But the literary origin of the phrase is not available. Van Gogh, after cutting his ear off and rendering himself totally deaf continued to play loud music and tried to sing along too. He was always off key of course. So the expression also refers to someone who can’t sing very well.Source: theidioms.com
If you don´t know who was Van Gogh, so let me tell you that he was a famous painter who cut his left 👂 off after a series of mental illnesses. He did it after he argued with a colleage called Paul Gaugin. Since that, Van Gogh, who was totally 🙉, continued to play loud music and try to 🎤 along, too. He was always off 🔑 of course. Due to this story, the expresion refers to someone who can´t 🎤 very well.

They are abbrevations that consist of the first letter of each word in the name of something -such as an organization, an illness, a phrase or a tittle- promounced as a word. For example, NASA is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration 🇺🇸👨👩🚀.  This week, I've mentioned another in our last vocabulary lesson about the Chinese Zodiac. I used the phrase The GOAT for referring to Roger Federer. Would you like to know why ❓ I'll tell you it in the following paragraph 👇. Guys, you know, Roger Federer is the most successful 🎾👨 in the Open Era;  but also, he is called 'The 🐐': The Greatest Of All Times. So, 'The 🐐' is the way fans and the 📰 📻 📺📱 called exceptional 👨👩 who are the best in the history of their field. Not only 'The
