Actual vs. Current

Hi guys❗ I'm sure that you have ever heard these words, which sometimes are confused.

Do you know what the difference between them is❓ If you don't know it, read the following ❷ conversations and try to guess. Good luck 🍀❗

💬
Andrew: Have you seen Phillip today
Coach: I don't know him but my friend Phil is there.
Andrew: It's him. All his friends call him Phil but his actual name is Phillip.

💬
TV Presenter: The current US open men's single champion is Novak Djokovic.

Did you guess the difference between these adjectives❓ Well; if you are 😕, don´t 😟 don´t 😢. Let´s see their uses 😉.

Actual
This word can be used as a synomyn of real and exact, too.
His friends call him Phil but his actual name is Phillip.
                            actual + noun
She looks very young but in actual fact she is 30.
                            in actual fact + clause
*In actual fact means really.
Also, we say this adjective to emphasize the most important part of an event or activity.
The rehearsals and all preparations for the play have taken two months, but the actual performance is today.
                                                                                                                                               the actual
(sth)

Current
Current is an adjective that refers to something existing at the present time.
The current US open men's single champion is Novak Djokovic.
                 current
*US Open is one of the most important tennis tournaments.

Remember❗
We can use actual as a synonym of real.
When we want to emphazise the most important part of something, we use the phrase the actual + noun.
We say current to refer to something, such a tittle, event, word, etc that is existing now.

They are abbrevations that consist of the first letter of each word in the name of something -such as an organization, an illness, a phrase or a tittle- promounced as a word. For example, NASA is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration 🇺🇸👨👩🚀.  This week, I've mentioned another in our last vocabulary lesson about the Chinese Zodiac. I used the phrase The GOAT for referring to Roger Federer. Would you like to know why ❓ I'll tell you it in the following paragraph 👇. Guys, you know, Roger Federer is the most successful 🎾👨 in the Open Era;  but also, he is called 'The 🐐': The Greatest Of All Times. So, 'The 🐐' is the way fans and the 📰 📻 📺📱 called exceptional 👨👩 who are the best in the history of their field. Not only 'The
