Afraid
If 👨👩 is afraid, they get 😧 because they think that another 👨/👩 or something could hurt them, or a bad thing may happen.
    She's never afraid to say what she thinks.

Frightened
This is a more formal way to say scared, especially used in writen English.
    Pets are frightened of fireworks, especially on Christmas and New Year.

Terrified
👨👩 use this word to mean that they are quite frightened.
    She was terrified to stay at home alone on Halloween night.

Horrified
Use this adjective for describing 👨👩 who are extremely shocked, disguised or frightened.
   He was very horrified to hear the bad news.

(In a) cold sweat
In a cold sweat is an informal expression that 👨👩 use for saying that they feel so nervous or fearfull that they sweat because of it.
    Lara woke up from a nightmare in a cold sweat.

Shaking like a leaf
👨👩 use it to refer to the state of nervousness or fear that makes them shake a lot.
    Romina was shaking like a leaf the last Halloween night because of the strange noises she heard.

Scared to death
You can use this expression to say that you are extremely scared.
    Michael looked scared to death that night.

Paralysed with fearUse this 🇬🇧 spelt phrase to refer to the state of being unable to move (part of) your body because of being extremely afraid.
    Obviously, she was paralysed with fear.

Petrified
This one is used for saying that 👨/👩 is extremely frightened so they can't think or move.
    I'm absolutely petrified of heights.
